At MAN factory, Munich, door gaps of track cabs are measured during
production by a mobile scanner. With a handy "gun", put to the cab, the measurement is made at the push
of a button. "The handling is
as easy as to take holiday pictures", was the comment of the customer. |

The
M2D laser scanner is the basis of this measurement system. The electronic
unit of the laser scanner is available in three different types:
|
|||
| • i-Control
- Sensor Controller with PC104 • Blue Box - for the connection to an industrial PC • ISA plug-in card for an industrial PC |
|||
| With the two rubber feet the
measuring pistol is put to the test point. By the portable scanners display, the user is informed about the status of the measuring and he is guided interactive through the measuring operation. |
|||
|
The scanner is measuring at the same time:

| Vehicle
specific data for each cab (such as vehicle number, vehicle specific tolerances)
is downloaded, measured, processed and validated by interfacing to main
computer. The measuring device is working self-sufficient, meaning without permanently availability of the network. It automatically synchronizes, background processing, in adjustable cycles with the main computer, as soon as the network is available. Security Depending on authorization level, the employees are able to access different features. It is not possible for them, to change measured values or tolerances. The user management recognizes each employee by bar code number. Sensitive features are reserved to the administrator. At the end of the measuring process, a protocol is printed. Simultaneously, the measured data are transferred to main computer. Consequently, the gap dimensions are documented for production, quality assurance and end customer. With MEL- application-software the recorded profile will be displayed. Based on CCD technology, the M2D scanner is predestinated for application on all surfaces. Even on - for image processing critical - black varnish or brilliant varnish, the M2D hasn´t any problem. |
